After giving up making Dresden figurines, I needed
another outlet and I had a friend that quilted, so I decided to try it. She had been working on a Baltimore Album quilt, so it was natural that I try hand applique. The picture at the right was my first attempt. The pansies are all done in batiks that I fussy cut to give the movement within the petals that I wanted. I was pleased with the results and I was hooked! I even tried my hand at hand quilting on this piece. My stitches didn't turn out 12 stitches to the inch, but they were even. I've since taken a class from the Thimble Lady and have high hopes of mastering those tiny stitches. Once I had this one done, I did several wall quilts and bed quilts. I have
14 grandchildren and have hopes of getting enough bed quilts stockpiled so that I can give each of them a quilt as a wedding gift. Tomorrow I'll show you a wedding gift that I gave my nephew and his bride as
a wedding gift.
